The fandom has been anxiously awaiting George R.R. Martin’s sixth installment of the A Song of Ice and Fire series Winds of Winter for what seems like the past year. Good news is that he will be releasing a new book next month. Bad news is that it’s not the one we want. On October 26th in New York, Martin and his co-authors/fact checkers will be releasing The World of Ice and Fire: The Untold History of Westeros and the Game of Thrones. Now, it may not be Winds of Winter but at least it’s something. Right?
The CNET article explains:
“The World of Ice and Fire” serves as a prologue and introduction to the heptalogy, giving a full history of the Seven Kingdoms and the battles, betrayals, rivalries, and rebellions that led to the events unfolding on screen. The book includes over 170 original pieces of full-color artwork and maps, and shows detailed family trees for Houses Stark, Lannister, and Targaryen.
This sounds really cool though! It’s like an inside look into George R.R. Martin’s mind (in a way). I, for one, love things like this. I also have four more books of the series to read so, for me, he can take as long as he wants with Winds of Winter 😛
The article further explains how you can attend the event on October 26th or how you can pre-order yourself a copy on Amazon (if you so desire). The book will be released officially on October 28th.
I find this so tempting and I think I just found my next gift to myself 🙂
