Telltale’s ‘Game of Thrones’ Has Officially Released + Review

Granted, the game has been out for at least a week now but I really wanted to play the game before delving into anything further about it. With that being said, if you haven’t already, check out the official launch trailer below:

A day after this trailer was released, the game was also released. The first episode is $5 or you can buy the entire ‘season pass’ for about $30. I went ahead and bought the season pass for my computer for about $25 through the official Telltale website. The season pass really just means that you have went ahead and bought all six episodes so when the new episode comes out, you can go ahead and download it. Quite simple.

Now, let’s get into it, shall we? From the trailer we caught more glimpses of some of our familiar characters from the show in all of their glory. But, we have also been inclined to meet some of our new characters that we will grow attached to as the story progresses. I’m not kidding either, after one episode, I’m immensely attached to a few of the characters.

This game really does have it all, in my opinion. Every decision you make immensely impacts how other characters respond to you and the story as a whole. Granted, from watching the show, we all may think it would be easy to full answer questions and invoke punishment on people who wrong us but, believe me, it’s a lot more difficult than it seems. In the first episode, you wonder if you punished people the right way and you worry about whether or not your answers will get you kicked out of King’s Landing if you don’t please Cersei. It really is a pulse-pounding game and it leaves you wanting more.

Telltale says the game can be completed in about 2 hours, tops. So, relatively, it is not a long game. I would say this is about right. I was rather upset when it ended because not only did I want to play more but it left on a cliffhanger ending…typical Game of Thrones style, if you ask me.

Telltale also says that each episode should be available every 4-6 weeks so I have a while before the next episode but this gives you, if you haven’t already played, more than enough time to get yourself the game and play. It really is worth it!

Telltale’s ‘Game of Thrones: Episode 1-Iron from Ice’ is simple, easy to play, and has a great story that has so much potential! So, get yourselves the game! I promise, you will NOT regret it! 🙂

Other ‘Game of Thrones’ Actors to Lend their Voices for Telltale’s Game Series

With the likes of Peter Dinklage, Natalie Dormer, Lena Headey, and Iwan Rheon who have already joined for the first episode of the series, it seems that a few more have also joined to be a part of the phenomenon.

According to TIME:

EW has confirmed that Kit Harrington and Emilia Clarke will be joining the ranks of their fellow cast members and appearing as Jon and Dany in future episodes of the video game series. Telltale hasn’t revealed exactly when these characters will show up, but expect Harrington and Clarke to lend their voices sometime during the game’s next five episodes.

Well, I love this! More characters we are familiar with will be joining! In the first episode, we have Tyrion, Cersei, Margaery, and Ramsay and before the end of the series, it now seems we will also have Jon and Dany! This is great! Wonder who else we may get before the end of the series….any ideas?

Maisie Williams Certain to be Cast in ‘The Last of Us’ Film

maisieellie

http://winteriscoming.net/2014/12/04/maisie-williams-certain-casting-potential-last-us-film/

The Last of Us was one of the most critically acclaimed video games of 2013 due to its relationship-centered post-apocalyptic story. Due to its immense popularity, it was almost destined to be a feature film. Director/Producer Sam Raimi who was involved in Spiderman and Evil Dead 2 has already been attached but a script has not full come into play.

However, for the longest time, many fans have been associating Maisie Williams to be cast as Ellie, the teenage protagonist.

According to IGN:

As far as [Maisie is] concerned, ‘it’s looking like, ‘yes’

Now, that is not a whole lot to go on but Sam Raimi and game director Neil Druckmann wanted her to moderate a panel at Comic Con for it. She ended up not doing it but she does still feel attached to the project.

Here’s a quick little bit about Ellie if you’ve never played the game:

Ellie is a teenaged girl in the Boston area who is exposed to the zombie plague but, for the first time that anyone knows, she doesn’t get turned. She joins with an older man, Joel, who protects her on a journey across the country to meet a group who believes that can use Ellie to cure the zombie plague.

Ellie really is an interesting character and the voice actor, Ashley Johnson, actually recommended Maisie for the role if there was to be a film adaptation. Only thing is that Ellie does have a somewhat strictly American accent whereas Maisie does not so this would give her an opportunity to show us what she can do.

I played part of the game and it was quite interesting and rather sad but the storyline is fantastic! I think Maisie would be great for the role of Ellie even the character does look a lot like Ellen Page. But, what do you guys think? Maisie as Ellie: yes or no?

Two of the ‘Sand Sisters’ Completed Filming

Season 5 is almost upon us and most of the actors are wrapping up their final scenes. However, some are still filming those last tid-bit scenes but for two of the new Sand Sisters that will appear in season 5, it definitely is a wrap for them.

Keisha-Castle Hughes will portray the role of Obara Sand in the upcoming season. She is the eldest daughter to Oberyn Martell but she does not command the same respect as her sister Nymeria because her mother is a not a noble woman.

International Business Times explains:

Obara Sand is, however, a strong character, and readers may get to see her use her whip to good effect in “Game of Thrones” Season 5. The character is known for her quick temper and a warrior-like temperament. She does not believe in being diplomatic and makes her displeasure known about any issue immediately.

Well, she certainly sounds fun and I have a feeling I am really going to like her. As for Nymeria Sand, who is portrayed by Jessica Henwick, she is chosen to take her late father’s place at the small council in King’s Landing by Prince Doran.

International Business Times also explains:

According to the books, she is one of the characters most eager to exact revenge on the Lannisters for the death of her father, Oberyn Martell.

Seems like I will really like her too! Both actresses have completed filming for their characters and during their time, they traveled to three different countries. Keisha explained that she filmed for six months and flew for over 200 hours for the role while Jessica filmed for five months. There is also one more important Sand Snake sister but it appears she may still be filming.

I don’t know about everyone else, but I am super excited for Dorne! How does everyone else feel?

Littlefinger’s Brothel Back for S5

Well, isn’t that exciting?! We haven’t seen the inside of Littlefinger’s brothel in like, what, two seasons? I can’t remember exactly but does that mean Littlefinger is coming back to King’s Landing? Hmmm….we can speculate below together…

io9.com quoted the show’s official behind-the-scenes blog and this is what they had to say:

Today we are shooting at our faithful brothel. Set discussions involve how many “naughties” should be arrayed across a couch versus how many on the floor. And whether we shouldn’t see some period-appropriate prophylactics on hand (in a manner of speaking). Namely, sheep bladders or sheepskin sheaths. Sadly, our props department doesn’t keep any of those in stock. Seriously…we asked.

Haha, well isn’t that….something? This might not necessarily mean Littlefinger is headed back to King’s Landing but the speculation is there. Furthermore, if he does return….does Sansa go with him or does she go on her own path? To be quite honest, even though it seems she may have changed her look, I still believe she would be fairly noticeable in King’s Landing…don’t you agree? I think it’ll be great to see the brothel again but what we will be seeing is a completely different subject 🙂

You can check out the article HERE, however it is relatively small and you have to scroll down quite a bit before finding the info on GoT.

Game of Thrones Film in Discussion

Now the idea of a Game of Thrones film sounds exciting by itself but what kind of film would we really be in for in the long run?

In a recent interview with Charles Dance, our former Tywin Lannister, he mentioned that a film was currently being discussed.

Dance explained:

There’s talk of eventually trying to do a feature film, but I don’t know which of the storylines. There’s so much to cram into a film.

Now granted, that isn’t much to go on but the writers over at ComicBook.com have their own speculations.

They speculate:

Perhaps they use a feature film as a series finale, but it’s hard to speculate on that since the series’ ending hasn’t been written yet. Another possibility is a prequel film, maybe adapting Martin’s “Tales of Dunk and Egg” series of novellas, which tells stories of the young, future king Aegon V Targaryen and future Kingsguard commander Ser Duncan the Tall, set 90 years prior to “Game of Thrones”. Or, they could focus on other major historical events…perhaps a film about Robert’s Rebellion.

I don’t know about everyone else but a film finale might be a bit awkward for the show and focusing on other parts of history…such as a prequel….might not leave much room for our favorite characters to appear but is that what we are looking for? Our favorite characters? Or a brand new story? I, for one, think it would be cool to see Robert’s Rebellion and how he took the throne and eventually married Cersei…or did that happen before he took the throne? I honestly don’t remember. Regardless, that would be cool to see. What does everyone else think? Does a Game of Thrones film sound like a good idea?

WATCH: Colorado Avalanche Hockey Teams Spoofs GoT Opening Credits

The title really says it all and before we can really get into this, you have to check out the video below:

Whether you are a hockey fan or not, this is really quite clever and the Colorado Avalanche graphics and marketing departments really deserve a round of applause for their efforts! This is really well done!

Basically, the video references the players of the team as the opening credits reference their actors and the different areas on this spoof map represent the different Central Division teams.

I personally don’t watch hockey and I know absolutely nothing about these teams but this spoof video is fantastic!

Now, on to cite my lovely source, you can check out the full article HERE which provides the video once again and a teeny tiny bit more detail. Hope you enjoyed!

‘The Sight Will Come Soon’

Before we begin, if you have not seen the teeny tiny teaser for season 5, check it out below:

http://youtu.be/rx84YqLbd7o

A complete 10 seconds focusing on Arya that tells us next to nothing but if you’ve read the books, the black and white doors at the end of the trailer are really important! I won’t spoil it though.

Now, the teaser directed you to the website ThreeEyedRaven.com where you are told that upon continuing, you can receive visions of the future. You will then be prompted to either receive these messages through Twitter or through SMS.

The Hollywood Reporter speculated that the site will be the future home of teasers and trailers for the upcoming season hence ‘visions of the future’.

I joined through SMS and I have not received anything of yet other than to verify that I want to receive the sight so this should be fun! I cannot wait to know what the site has in store for us and what more we can expect through teasers and trailers leading up to the Spring premiere.

Hope you all enjoyed and you can check out the full article HERE

Season 4 Available for Pre-Order

Just in time for the holidays as well! According to Watchers on the Wall, Best Buy is currently accepting pre-orders for the much anticipated DVD release of Game of Thrones.

The current release date for the DVD or Blu-Ray set has been set for February 17, 2015 but that doesn’t mean you can’t get a head start, right? Also, it seems that the Blu-Ray disc set is set to have a bonus disc with additional content yet the contents of that disc are still hidden.

The pre-order price is also discounted, offering $15.00 off MSRP which is currently set at $59.99 for Blu-Ray and $49.99 for DVD. So, basically, standard DVD release prices for television shows. However, has anyone noticed that the first three seasons are still close to $40 in stores? I know other shows that I watch, earlier seasons have deduced to $20 or less but not Game of Thrones. I bought the first season a few months ago and now I have to patiently wait for extra money to afford seasons 2 and 3 and now season 4. Hmmm, seems like a Christmas List addition, doesn’t it?

Also, Best Buy is currently offering special edition covers for the Blu-Ray version that vary from Tyrell, Lannister, Stark, Targaryen, and Martell or you can definitely just go basic (like I probably will because I don’t have a Blu-Ray) and get the basic cover which is the three-eyed raven.

Well, with that being said, head on over to Best Buy and pre-order your season 4 set! Also, you can check out the article HERE and check out some of the special edition covers before you make your decision.

Daenerys Targaryen Recreated by Fan for Dragon Age: Inquisition

Dragon Age: Inquisition was released in stores two weeks ago and it seems that one particular fan really needs Game of Thrones in their life! Inquisition allows players to fully customize their Inquisitor from basic elements such as skin and eye color all the way down to certain specific facial features such as how big a particular facial feature is. For example, one can easily adjust the lip and eye size according to preference.

Now, I actually pre-ordered Dragon Age: Inquisition and I’ve played the first two games as well and, in my opinion, the character customization is amazing! It’s always been one of my favorite parts of the game and Bioware really stepped up when it came to how much more one could do for Inquisition. Previously, it may have been difficult to recreate a fan-favorite television character but Imgur user kill3rewok has proven that it can officially be done with his/her flawless recreation of the Mother of Dragons herself, Daenerys Targaryen.

Below are some final in-game screenshots of the lovely Inquisitor herself!

Beautiful, isn’t it? Now, granted, Bioware doesn’t allow many different hairstyles, I feel that is one the one place they are lacking but realistically, what woman runs into battle with flowing, long hair? So, it does make sense. Therefore, this is why we don’t see the Mother of Dragons long platinum blonde hair.

So, what do you guys think? I think this user did a fantastic job and I hope he/she is having a fantastic time running around Thedas as Daenerys! You can definitely check out the full Imgur post HERE which provides over 40 screenshots of the creation process!
