Telltale Releases ‘Game of Thrones’ Teaser

Now, this looks amazing! I cannot wait! Also, Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister), Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister), Natalie Dormer (Margaery Tyrell), and Iwan Rheon (Ramsay Bolton) will be adding the voices for the characters. These are the only four confirmed at this time, however.

Telltale has also released a description of Ser Royland Degore who is Ironrath’s Master-at-Arms.

The Verge reveals:

Royland Degore joined Lord Forrester’s army after his family was wiped out by Ironborn during Balon Greyjoy’s rebellion. Degore had a natural grasp of military tactics and strategy and came to play a crucial role in the siege of Pyke that ended the war. In the months that followed, King Robert awarded Royland  a knighthood and Lord Forrester asked him to serve as Ironrath’s Master-at-Arms. Ser Royland still holds the position and is known for his military expertise…as well as his legendary temper.

Ser Royland is one of the five different characters you can control in the upcoming game. Now, these characters will also be surrounded by a number of familiar faces as well. There is still no set release date but ‘Iron from Ice’ will be launched on a number of platforms including PC, Mac, PS3, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and iOS.

VIDEO: Rory McCann’s ‘The Hound’ Audition

We all know and love The Hound from the show but the audition tape really is spectacular. Check it out!

Interesting, wasn’t it? Quite intense too if I say so myself. However, it really was spectacular and he portrayed The Hound so well on the show. McCann definitely captured the harsh but delicate nature of The Hound with a speech about the origins of his brutal scaring.

McCann also had this to say about the audition:

I think I really only got the part because my sister fucked up. She was supposed to print out what I was meant to learn for the audition speech, but she sent me the wrong one – – only two or three lines, that was it. I was waiting in this heat wave in London at the casting director’s place, and I see everyone reading this big speech for the Hound about how he got his face burned. I had to delay my meeting for four hours so I could learn it. By that time, I was fucking raging. When I walked into the room, I knew I had to go crazy, so I unleashed all this. It was just a fluke that day – –  I was just especially angry. [Laughs] Something worked.

I’d say so! What an interesting story too. I love hearing about auditions and what actors had to go through to get the part. Fun Fact: Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) did the chicken dance at her audition. No idea why, but she did.

Anywho, article was found HERE, check out more if you wish!

Season 5 Character Changes Are Upon Us!

ramsaymyranda

https://hemator.wordpress.com/2014/04/19/

We are still a few months away from the Game of Thrones season 5 premiere but that doesn’t mean the news won’t keep rolling in. But, be forewarned that there may be possible spoilers in this post! You have been warned!

When we last saw Roose Bolton and his army, he was marching to Winterfell with his now-legitimate son, Ramsay, and Theon Greyjoy. Now, a fellow character who was seen briefly with Ramsay last season seems to be getting more screen time for this upcoming season. Do we all remember Myranda (pictured above)? I know I do, we first saw her in season four helping Ramsay hunt down a girl in the woods. I bet she’s starting to sound familiar now. It has now been confirmed that her role will increase from the two episode rank from season 4 to now four episode for season 5. Hey, a jump is a jump, right?

Now, this is where it is getting a tad bit tricky. We have heard that showrunners, D&D, are going to start diverting from the books in the upcoming season and with Myranda’s storyline, we are now seeing how they are going about this. It seems she will be taking over for the role of Jeyne Poole who does not exist on the show but she is Sansa’s childhood best friend in the books.

According to LatinTimes:

Season 5 will feature the Bolton’s marching on Winterfell and attempting to control the territory due to Roose Bolton’s newly appointed Warden of the North title, and though the group is poised for war, they are also making some less bloody political moves. Ramsay Bolton, under the direction of his father Roose, will be ordered to marry Arya Stark, the seemingly last remaining heir of Winterfell.

Now, us fans know that Arya has not been back in Winterfell since season 1 and at the end of season 4, she was heading to Braavos and it seems, at this time, no one has any idea where she is headed. So, how does this configure with the Bolton storyline? Don’t worry, I got you covered.

LatinTimes continues:

This will prompt the Bolton’s to create a fake Arya, in the book series the role of fake Arya Stark and future bride of Ramsay is played reluctantly by Jeyne Poole, although it seems that in the TV series, this deceitful scheme will be played out by Myranda.

Now granted, this makes sense because with Game of Thrones already having one of the largest ensemble casts on television, there was bound to be a few characters cut and combined eventually. I think this will be interesting though. Granted, I was not too crazy about Myranda in season 4 but I am curious as to where they will take her character for the upcoming season. Also, with Myranda technically already being in a relationship with Ramsay, could we maybe see a different side to Ramsay? Hmm, what does everyone else think?

Jack Gleeson Admits He Spoiled ‘GoT’ for Himself

joffrey-baratheon

http://www.hngn.com/articles/18462/20131130/game-of-thrones-actor-jack-gleeson-quitting-acting.htm

We haven’t heard much from Jack Gleeson since he left Game of Thrones so when this appeared in my RSS feed, I was overjoyed because I was able to finally talk about my problematic favorite character again: Joffrey Baratheon. Turns out, when Jack Gleeson took the role, he spoiled himself on what was to happen to his character.

Gleeson said:

Basically when I got the part, before I read the books, I looked on Wikipedia, read the brief description of each book, so I knew pretty earlier on that there was an expiry date to Joffrey.

As we know, Joffrey was poisoned at his own wedding feast in season 4, episode 2: ‘The Lion and the Rose’ and even though Gleeson knew about the boy king’s demise, he also knows that the character will be missed. He is one of those characters you just love to hate after all.

The actor continued with:

Obviously you want Joffrey to die the most painful and grotesque possible, but I think there’s also a sense in those final moments that hopefully you see this cruel manipulative king, but he’s also a young man, a young boy, who’s dying in the arms of his mother.

It’s fun to hate someone, I suppose, and I think there was a certain vacuum there when Joffrey passed.

Gleeson also apparently enjoys all of the memes and videos that appear based around the show saying ‘it’s gratifying to be able o share that experience with someone’ and he is also excited to be at Supanova Pop Culture Expo in Australia (which is where the interview took place) since he has been finishing his Philosophy degree at Dublin’s Trinity College after he left Thrones.

I’m so ecstatic that fans have been able to hear from Jack Gleeson since he left Game of Thrones early in season four. I have missed him. I’m also happy that he hasn’t fully disappeared from the public, he still does occasional interviews even though he is no longer acting but -fingers crossed- that he comes back to acting again!

S5 is Set to Have a ‘Huge Amount of Drama’

RTE Ireland caught up with Liam Cunningham who plays the faithful friend of Stannis Baratheon, Davos Seaworth and he had a little to say about the upcoming season.

The actor admits:

We’re about to overtake the books. There’s going to be a huge amount of drama this year. There are people going down. As there are every year. But I’m not going to say who. I’m not going to say when. I can’t!

So, with every other actor on the show, he can only delve so much into what fans will be seeing in season five but with George R.R. Martin only being halfway done with the sixth book, it’s pretty obvious that the show is going to overtake the books and the best part about that is that readers of the books no longer know what’s going to happen. Sorry, but as a fan who hasn’t been able to read all the books, it’s nice to know that everyone will be in the same boat and have no idea what’s happening at times. Call me cruel but it’s true.

However, Cunningham also confirmed that filming will conclude the first week of December and season five will be complete.

Jerome Flynn Confirms Bronn’s Story for S5…Sort Of

Bronn is considered to be one of the most popular characters on Game of Thrones so it comes as no surprise that fans want to know what to expect from the sellsword and friend-for-hire in season 5. When we last saw Bronn in season four, he parted ways with Tyrion and was engaged to be married. However, it seems big changes are coming his way and as fans, we are used to change but what better way to know what changes are coming than to hear from the actor himself?

Well, even though he was unable to say much on the subject other than the fact that it will be ‘very different from my normal kind of environment for Bronn’, we were able to learn how he felt about his character and some of his favorite moments. So, it was still fun!

‘Game of Thrones’ Banned by the Turkish Army

As fans of the show, we know just how controversial this show can get. But the Turkish Army (TSK) seems to have had enough and they have deemed the show ‘unsuitable for young soldiers’ and banning the show is a way to ‘protect’ its students.

Independent explains:

It has reportedly banned certain programs, including most notably Game of Thrones, in order to safeguard young people against ‘sexual exploitation, pornography, exhibitionism, abuse, harassment and all negative behaviors.’

However, this is not the first time Game of Thrones has caused problems in the TSK.

In 2012, the Hurriyet Daily News reported four teachers at the Izmir Maltepe Military High School were discharged from the army after they showed the program to their students as a way of helping them to improve their English.

I don’t know if I would show Game of Thrones to help people better their English but to each their own. It does not necessarily surprise me that the show is banned, everything the TSK has a problem with is understandable. The show is very heavy when it comes to certain subject materials BUT, at the same, time it’s a fantasy medieval series…a lot of the material is how things were done WAY WAY WAY back in the day so you have to keep that in mind. Also, it’s a work of fiction so it’s not real.

Independent also claimed that the show sparked controversy in the UK after season four’s ‘rape’ scene aired. We all remember that. Jaime and Cersei right next to Joffrey’s body. I still can’t get that image out of my head. However, it also seems that season five will have a naked walk of shame which I have reported on so it seems the show is only going to become more intense as it continues.

It really does come down to each their own and I respect the decision that the TSK has made because some cultures in the world react differently to different things. That’s how the world works. What does everyone else think? Do you think the TSK is in the right or do you think they are taking things too far?

Plot Revealed for Telltale’s ‘Game of Thrones’

With the anticipation for season 5, fans now have a game to bide their time until the April premiere. It has been noted that fans will be playing characters from House Forrester, which is a lesser known Northern house with allegiance to the Starks….or lack thereof now :/

However, with this being said, Telltale has released a tad bit more information regarding the game and what kinds of characters you will be playing.

CNET explains:

Players will assume the role of five different members of House Forrester, including both family members and people in service to the house.

The events in Telltale’s ‘Game of Thrones’ begin near the end of season 3 of the HBO series, and end right before the beginning of season 5. Players will find themselves in various familiar locations such as King’s Landing and The Wall, as well as unknown locations like Ironrath, the home of House Forrester.

Okay, so it’s not a lot of information but it’s enough to keep us guessing on everything we will be doing in the game. I think this sounds fascinating and I cannot wait. Telltale still has not released a date for the game yet, all they are saying is ‘soon’. Okay, fine, I’ll deal with that…for now. However, knowing that I will be traveling to King’s Landing makes me so happy! It will be amazing to experience the corruption of the city during gameplay…maybe even a little terrifying.

The first episode out of six will be available soon on PC, Mac, Playstation 4, Playstation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and iOS, with additional platforms to be announced later….most likely android market. However, no details on pricing has been given at this point but if you expect to play all six episodes, CNET expects consumers to pay about $25-$30. Not too bad considering most games go for $50-$60 upon release.

So, who’s excited?! I’m excited! I’ll definitely pre-order….anyone else?

Telltale Games Releases New Information!

9KCaKOgEzOte.878x0.Z-Z96KYq

Telltale Games has officially released some new information! First, there will be a total of six episodes and they have started releasing little by little information on the first. Let’s break it down, shall we?

According to Watchers on the Wall:

The first episode is entitled ‘Iron from Ice’ and IGN reported that the game series is centered on a single house which we now know is House Forrester.

GoT_Ironrath_RevealImage_650px

Further, they concluded:

House Forrester located in the North in the Wolfswood is sworn to House Glover of Deepwood Motte. The House is apparently canon appearing in ‘A Dance with Dragons’.

Telltale has also released that there will be five playable characters. It’s still unknown whether that means just the first episode or all six as a total. Also, they want to play on the aspect of decision making and the consequences of your choices in the game. Basically, whichever choice you make will effect the other members of your House. How exciting?!

Well, now this interesting, isn’t it? Telltale still has not announced a release date yet but the game is still expected to arrive by the end of the year so that only leaves a matter of time.

So, who’s excited? I’m interested to learn about another house but it would have also been kind of cool to portray a House that is already relevant on the show and change canon around a bit….what do you guys think? I don’t know, maybe that’s just me.

You can check out the full article HERE where they provide a map of where House Forrester is located on a Westerosi map 🙂

Winter is Coming….to College

Game of Thrones has made its way into many people’s lives but this coming Spring, it is making its way into college courses.

Professor Samuel Avery at the State University of New York at Cortland will be offering a course based on the first three Game of Thrones books and how they compare to the HBO show.

Avery expresses:

As an educator, it has been my experience that college students are generally alliterate – meaning that they CAN read but choose not to. This is problematic because the act of reading is often so closely linked to the success of a person. The more a person reads, the better a person writes and the better a person writes, the more successful that person is likely going to be.

There are many colleges who are now offering courses based around television shows. Syracuse University offers courses on Doctor Who and Star Trek and Buffalo State offers one on Breaking Bad. This is not uncommon. In fact, the University of Virginia had its own Game of Thrones course this past summer that discussed fan culture and online spoilers that really make you question the logic and theories behind the characters and story.

While Avery also explains that the HBO show will be discussed, the texts will be the primary source. Through analyzing the first three texts, students will look into storytelling techniques and character development. Avery also expresses that the class will be fun because he plans to split up his students into different houses and have them ‘fight it out’ as Starks, Lannisters, Baratheons, and Targaryens. He ultimately explains that his students should be ready for betrayals, battles, and book in the Spring.

Personally, I think this is fantastic! I wish my school would get courses like these. I would love this! I think it’s a great idea because it’s a course on something you actually want to read whereas most literature classes don’t have very enjoyable material. As someone who has taken countless literature courses in school, I can say that not every piece of material is fascinating. I would love to take a whole course dedicated to Game of Thrones.

What do you guys think? Would you take this course? Any problems you see with it? I’m curious as to how compelling Avery’s argument was with the Dean in order to get this class going. I really wonder about that. Haha
