Jack Gleeson Admits He Spoiled ‘GoT’ for Himself

We haven’t heard much from Jack Gleeson since he left Game of Thrones so when this appeared in my RSS feed, I was overjoyed because I was able to finally talk about my problematic favorite character again: Joffrey Baratheon. Turns out, when Jack Gleeson took the role, he spoiled himself on what was to happen to his character.

Gleeson said:

Basically when I got the part, before I read the books, I looked on Wikipedia, read the brief description of each book, so I knew pretty earlier on that there was an expiry date to Joffrey.

As we know, Joffrey was poisoned at his own wedding feast in season 4, episode 2: ‘The Lion and the Rose’ and even though Gleeson knew about the boy king’s demise, he also knows that the character will be missed. He is one of those characters you just love to hate after all.

The actor continued with:

Obviously you want Joffrey to die the most painful and grotesque possible, but I think there’s also a sense in those final moments that hopefully you see this cruel manipulative king, but he’s also a young man, a young boy, who’s dying in the arms of his mother.

It’s fun to hate someone, I suppose, and I think there was a certain vacuum there when Joffrey passed.

Gleeson also apparently enjoys all of the memes and videos that appear based around the show saying ‘it’s gratifying to be able o share that experience with someone’ and he is also excited to be at Supanova Pop Culture Expo in Australia (which is where the interview took place) since he has been finishing his Philosophy degree at Dublin’s Trinity College after he left Thrones.

I’m so ecstatic that fans have been able to hear from Jack Gleeson since he left Game of Thrones early in season four. I have missed him. I’m also happy that he hasn’t fully disappeared from the public, he still does occasional interviews even though he is no longer acting but -fingers crossed- that he comes back to acting again!

GoT 30 Day Challenge (Day 28)

Day 28: Give some advice to one of the characters

When I did this on tumblr, Joffrey was still alive so I mainly focused on him. I would advise him to calm down! Or you keep saying “I am the King” but I don’t think it means what you think it meansI also spent a lot time watching the show thinking you are really scary sometimes. Stop?

But, alas, he is no longer with us so I’ll focus on my dear Sansa. I would advise her to be strong and confident. I would also tell her even though not everyone can be trusted, there is always someone.

I’m sorry but did you catch her final scene in season 4? Shall we go? Oh, so badass! Can’t wait till season 5!

What advice would you give to a character or even your favorite?

GoT 30 Day Challenge (Day 27)

Day 27: Top 5 favorite characters

Oooooohhhhhh….love this question! Let’s do it!

1) Joffrey Baratheon

2) Sansa Stark

3) Tyrion Lannister

and then this is where it gets complicated….who else would I consider a “favorite”?

4) Jaime Lannister

5) Ramsay Bolton – He’s legit now! haha.

Now, I know what you’re probably thinking…it started off bad and then ended bad…how nice of me. I’ll explain, my top 3 are a given. I’ve said over and over how much I love these three so it should come as no surprise…as for the last two, here we go. I like the new Jaime, the one that I can understand because, let’s face it, I hated him in the first season after he shoved Bran from the window in Winterfell…I mean, who does that?! But, I feel after he met Brienne, things have changed and I love it…I also love their relationship. I’d ship it 😛 Now, as for Ramsay…this is where I really have to explain…I’m not sympathetic of him, I’m really not. He gets what he deserves but I am fascinated with his story line. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I’m not a fan of Theon…who knows but the actor who plays Ramsay is phenomenal so blame him haha 🙂

I guess I just have a strong like for villains…I don’t know how else to explain it

Day 22: Make a graphic of your favorite ship

Okay, so I’m still learning how to layer pictures in order to do this so I don’t really have a graphic yet of my favorite ship but I do have this….

I thought this was beautiful and I am nowhere near close to making edits like this sooooo….all I have been able to make so far is….

sansastarkedit

I know…it kind of sucks…I’m still learning but what do you guys think? It’s simplistic…yes?

Also, in case you hadn’t realized, my favorite ship is Joffrey and Sansa…I’m still working on trying to get an awesome edit going for them….

UPDATE: I created a new image….it’s still not that great but it took a lot time. Layer masking is very hard! Ugh…anyway, here it is!

SansaandJoffrey

This was so hard to do! Oh my gosh! First time attempt didn’t turn out to bad. Also, if you can’t read it, I apologize but it says, ‘I let you under my skin because I love living innocent’. It’s a lyric to the song ‘Ghost’ by Ella Henderson…check it out, awesome song!

[30 Day Challenge]

Just a little fun….

So, I discovered on my RSS feed a new challenge. No, it won’t be another 30 day challenge but it’s just a quick one where you list your favorite character and give three reasons why you would hate them. I thought this would be a lot of fun because my favorite character is Joffrey and it really is very hard to like him but I do so here are three reasons why I would hate him.

1) He really undermines women. Like, a lot. He thinks they are stupid and don’t have any original thoughts that are worth anything. It’s a bit of a turn off.

2) He is such a mama’s boy! Oh my gosh, this bugs me so much! I like to assume that he has original thoughts that don’t result in physical harm but I think he is easily influenced by his mother so much that he does whatever she says but then calls her stupid later (see reason #1)

3) He really is over confident because he is the king. He thinks because he is the king, no one can hurt him or say rude things to him. First off, no. It doesn’t work like that. As a king, you have to do things to earn the people’s respect and he doesn’t do that very much. This airy over-confidence set him up for failure and led to his ultimate demise.

I still think he is a very amusing character regardless of his flaws. I empathize with the villain in almost anything so I will probably always like him. I also take everything he does and says with a grain a salt because he really is just a big talker and that’s it. Haha.

Oh, and here is a link to the forum where I found this. You can check out everyone else’s favorite characters and their reasons. What about yours? Who’s your favorite character and what makes you hate them?

Joffrey 4

GoT 30 Day Challenge (Day 1)

I did this on my tumblr blog a few months ago so I decided I would do it here too. Who knows what has changed since then 🙂

Day 1: Favorite character from book/show

Well, I already made another post that expressed who my favorite characters were. Sansa Stark/Tyrion Lannister/Joffrey Baratheon (it really is kind of sad that there are so many characters on this show but I only really care about three…ah well)

I would say that Joffrey Baratheon is my ultimate favorite character. Don’t judge me quite yet. Let me explain:

I’ve always enjoyed the villain of almost every show or film that I’ve watched. I find them to be the most interesting and intriguing and their story lines are typically awesome! When I started watching the show, I saw how most people in the fandom hated Joffrey and I wanted to know why so I gave the show a try and I honestly didn’t see what everyone else saw. Sure, he is sadistic and sometimes goes a bit too far but I think that is what makes him more interesting. He is not a black and white two dimensional character. As viewers of the show and readers of the books, we really do not receive an insight into Joffrey’s childhood. Sure we know some things about him (*cough cough* his parents *cough cough*) but we don’t really know why he turned out the way he did. Maybe his mother sheltered him too much. Maybe his “father” didn’t love him enough. We don’t really know, we can only wonder.

Whatever the case, though, Joffrey Baratheon is my all time favorite character on the show and if you haven’t watched the past season (S4) then SPOILER ALERT, I am really really really going to miss him in S5. Maybe that wasn’t so much of a spoiler but if you haven’t seen the show, it will make you wonder what I mean.
